Two Careers, One Conclusion

I have spent eleven years inside corporate leadership and fourteen years running a full-service digital agency — often at the same time. Those two vantage points teach opposite lessons, and the useful work sits where they meet.

Corporate teaches you why things move slowly: risk, governance, liability, the cost of a decision that cannot be undone. Agency life teaches you why things must move fast: clients who need an answer this week, and margins that do not survive six months of deliberation.

Most AI advice comes from one side or the other. It is either governance theatre that never ships, or move-fast enthusiasm that would not survive its first serious client question about where the data went. What I do is the middle: systems that are quick to build and still defensible when somebody asks.

Why ISO 42001

I became a certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor because the questions clients were asking had stopped being about capability and started being about trust. Not "can AI do this" but "can you show me how you control it".

That standard is now the clearest answer to that question, and it turns out to be useful far beyond certification. The discipline it imposes — know your risks, document your controls, keep a human in the loop, review it regularly — is simply what competent AI adoption looks like, whether or not you ever sit an audit.

Everything published on this site has been used on real work before it appears here. The prompts came out of actual engagements. The workflows are ones I run. The governance material is what I would put in front of an auditor.

There is no shortage of recycled prompt lists on the internet. This is not that. If something here did not survive contact with a real client deliverable, it does not get published.
